Ugalla river National park is situated between the Tabora and Rukwa areas in western-central Tanzania. It covers an area of about 3,865 square kilometres and is bounded by the Ugalla River on the south. The whole area is a vast open landscape that consisting Miombo Forests and high grassy savannahs inhabitant by a plethora of animals.
Keen safari-goers can access Ugalla River Game Reserve from either of the gateway towns of Arusha or Dar es Salaam. The small domestic Urambo Airport is the closest airport to Ugalla.
The best time to visit the Ugalla game reserve is the dry season from July and October when the animals find gathering in large numbers around the Ugalla River. The golden thin vegetables make it easier to spot them. The animals that can be easily experienced during game viewing are zebras, lions, buffaloes, antelopes, giraffes, leopards, hippos, elephants and crocodiles that are usually found around the river.
The wet season runs between November to May is the best time for a birding safari. If you want to have the park all by yourself then the wet season is the best to choose.

Ugalla Game Reserve boasts an array of magnificent wildlife species. The animal species that can be easily experienced during game viewing are zebras, lions, buffaloes, antelopes, giraffes, leopards, hippos, elephants and crocodiles that are usually bound in the river.
