Saadani National Park

Located in the centre of the historic triangle of Bagamoyo, Pangani and Zanzibar, Saadani National Park covers a conventional area of 1100 square kilometres. This is the only wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania bordering the sea and provides an exceptional combination of both marine and mainland flora and fauna in a culturally charming setting.

About 30 large mammal species, numerous reptiles, birds, green turtles, and over 40 species of fish, humpback whales and dolphins can be spotted in this ecosystem.

Best Time To Visit Saadani

The best time to visit Saadani National Park is during the dry season which runs between June to October. This is the best time for wildlife sightings as they are found gathering around the waterholes. The thin vegetation makes it easier to spot.

Though the dry season is the peak season in Tanzania, that doesn’t mean the wet season is not at all fit for a visit. It is the celebration time for bird enthusiasts as the park welcomes many migratory birds. But the road and walking trails may find hard to navigate.

Dry/High Season (June-October) Wet/Low Season (November-March)
Excellent wildlife sightings Beautiful scenery with green vegetables
Dry weather with sunny days and clear sky Afternoon and evening thunderstorms
Walking trails can be easier due to the thin vegetation Walking trails can be easier due to the thin vegetation
Fewer mosquitoes and insects Fewer crowds and a more intimate safari experience.
