Katavi National Park

Home to the largest herds of buffalo on the planet, Katavi National Park is a secluded expense of wilderness. Stretching over an area of around 4,471 square kilometres, the park is regarded as the third national park in Tanzania. According to Katavi customs, the park got its name from the legendary Tamarind tree. Because this is the home of the famous hunter, Kataviwhom. It boasts a wonderful array of habitats ranging from flood plains, dense waterways, woodlands, open grasslands, forests and pristine seasonal lakes. Its immense concentration of the game astonishes hundreds of safari-goers. Best Time To Visit Katavi

The best time to visit Katavi National Park is during the dry season from June to October. During this time, the Katuma River is one of the only water sources within the surrounding area. So, you can find almost all the wildlife of Katavi congregate around the river bank and the thin vegetation make it easier to spot. The views of hundreds of hippos and crocodiles around the river can surely make you wonder. Aside from it, the wet season from November to May also has its unique advantages. You can visit the park during this time for an authentic birding safari. The nature walk is also the peak thing to do in this diverse habitat. With this, you can track the footprints of the animals and visualize the spectacular nature as well. Wildlife At Katavi

Like other national parks in Tanzania, an immense of wildlife in Katavi National park is so impressive. You can treat your eyes to the views of wildebeests, giraffes, elephants, zebras, African Buffalos, lions, leopards, cheetahs and so on while on your Katavi National Park safari. Hippos and crocodiles are easily spotted on the Katuma River bank. During the dry season, hippos are seen relaxing in the mud holes and covering themselves with mud to protect their skin. Katavi also provides shelter for wild dogs, one of the critically endangered species.
